Event Details
New Rochelle's Bridge Records, called "the grandaddy of American independent classical labels." by the New York TImes, is being honored by the 2022 New Rochelle ArtsFest with a concert and art display. The event features the work of composer and painter, C. Damon Carter (aka William Bland, (www.CDamonCarter.com). Becky and David Starobin will speak about Carter, and introduce the evening's star performer, pianist Steven Beck, who will play Carter/Bland's 's 4th Piano Sonata- "Four Goodbye Rags". Also featured on Steven Beck's recital will be music from his latest recording, the Piano Sonatas of George Walker https://bridgerecords.com/products/9554
Gramophone recently wrote: "Walker would surely have admired Steven Beck's impeccable technique, and thorough absorption of the idiom. And perhaps he'd cede his own recordings of the first two sonatas to Beck's masterful authority." Alongside Mr. Beck's concert, the New Rochelle Library will exhibit six newly completed Carter canvases (2022). This event is part of New Rochelle's annual ArtsFest, which this year includes a chamber concert from the Aaron Copland House, on October 20, at 7:00 pm.
