Presented in collaboration with Young Musicians of Westchester
“Chamber Music” used to refer only to Western classical music composed for small ensembles, like string quartets. But today chamber music includes many different forms, including jazz, classical and folk genres. Learning to play chamber music is essential for success as students learn to play alongside equally talented musicians and explore different styles of music. In this concert, Purchase College Conservatory of Music students will play music they’re studying in the Conservatory’s Chamber Music program. In prior concerts, students have performed music by Bach, Beethoven, Ravel, Bartók and Debussy. But we’ve also heard folk, jazz, contemporary music – even compositions by the students themselves. Please join us in supporting our Young Musicians as they embark on professional careers.
