Event Details

Celebrate Black History Month with a captivating look at the legendary Motown record label, founded by Berry Gordy in 1959. Frustrated by earning little from his songwriting success with Lonely Teardrops, Gordy built a music empire that launched the careers of  icons like Diana Ross & the Supremes, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and The Jackson 5. The label played an important role in the racial integration of popular music achieving crossover success.

In this virtual program, historian Rick Feingold will share fascinating stories and classic video footage of Motown’s early years.
